ANN ARBOR, Michigan, October 22. A powerhouse meet comes to Canham Natatorium this weekend when the University of Michigan women’s swimming and diving team (2-0, 2-0 B1G) hosts Big Ten rival Indiana (0-1, 0-0 B1G) along with Louisville (1-0) and Texas (0-0) in a two-day meet beginning Friday (Oct. 24). The men’s teams from all four schools will also compete both days. Admission to both sessions is free.

Although national rankings for the 2014-15 season have not yet been released, the meet brings together some of the top finishers at the 2014 NCAA Championships. Texas finished ninth, with Indiana in 12th, Louisville in 15th and Michigan in 30th. On the men’s side, Texas took second, followed by Michigan at fourth, Indiana was 10th, and Louisville finished 11th.

The meet will combine great competition with fan-friendly activities. On Friday, the cheer and dance teams will bring Maize and Blue spirit to Canham, and there will be a meet-and-greet autograph session with post-graduate swimmers. On Saturday, U-M student-athletes will participate in a post-meet autograph session. There will be giveaways, trivia and activities for kids on both days.

POSTGRADUATE RACES

Throughout the meet, fans will be treated to exhibition races featuring professional swimmers who train at each school. Club Wolverine will be represented by current U.S. National Team member Emily Brunemann along with men’s swimmers Connor Jaeger, Michael Klueh, Sean Ryan and Kyle Whitaker. Other high-profile scheduled to appear include Lindsay Vrooman (USA/Indiana), Cody Miller (USA/Indiana), Joao De Lucca (Brazile/Louisville) and Michael McBroom (USA/Texas). The post-grad races are scheduled into both days of the meet.
