Katie McLaughlin Cracks Top 10 in 200 Fly

Mission Viejo’s Katie McLaughlin cracked into the top 10 in the world in the women’s 200-meter fly during prelims of the TYR Fran Crippen Memorial Swim Meet of Champions.

McLaughlin clocked a time of 2:07.93, the second 2:07 she’s ever posted behind her lifetime best of 2:07.08 from the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships.

With the swim, she tied Zsuzsanna Jakabos for ninth in the world rankings, and blasted her own in-season best of 2:08.86 set at the Mesa stop of the Arena Pro Swim Series in April.

  • Canyon’s Abbey Weitzeil led the women’s 100 free in 54.58.
  • Santo Condorelli led the men’s 100 free in 49.45.
  • California’s Justin Lynch led the men’s 200 fly in 2:01.09.
  • HMST’s Erin Earley led the women’s 200 back in 2:12.90.
  • Aquazot’s Danny Tran led the men’s 200 back in 2:03.81.
  • Allie Davis led the women’s 400-meter free in 4:13.91.
  • Nitro’s Sean Grieshop (3:54.63) and Trojan’s Mads Glaesner (3:56.45) went 1-2 in the men’s 400 free.
