Kathleen Baker, Alex Valente Lead USA Swimming’s Junior Team FINA World Cup Contingent

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado, October 8. Sixteen swimmers recognized as top 18-and-under swimmers from across the nation will represent USA Swimming this fall at FINA World Cup events in Tokyo and Singapore.

The women’s roster includes Kathleen Baker (Winston Salem, N.C.) the runner-up finisher in the 200m back at Phillips 66 Nationals, who also competed at the Pan Pacific Championships this summer. Ella Eastin, (Irvine, Calif.) a double gold medalist and captain of the Junior Pan Pacs team also headlines the squad.

For the men, Alexander Valente (Santa Barbara, Calif.) will look to continue his winning ways after earning gold in the 100m fly and the 400m medley relay at Junior Pan Pacs. Sean Grieshop (Cedar Park, Texas) also brings his experience from Maui with a silver-medal finish in the 1500m free.

After competing in Tokyo on Oct. 28-29, the squad will race in Singapore on Nov. 1-2. Visit fina.org for complete World Cup information.

Tim O’Brien of Nitro Swimming and Linck Bergen of Tualatin Hills Swim Club will serve as coaches for the trip.
