John Hencken Named To Santa Clara International Swim Center Hall Of Fame

John Hencken has been selected as the newest member of the Santa Clara International Swim Center Hall Of Fame. A triple Olympic Gold Medalist and former world record holder, Hencken swam for the Santa Clara Swim Club from 1969 to 1980.

He was a member of the U.S. Olympic Team for 3 Olympiads – 1972, 1976, and 1980. In 1972, he won the gold medal in the 200m breaststroke, taking the bronze in the 100m breaststroke. In 1976, he won gold medals in the 100m breaststroke and the 400m medley relay, and the silver medal in the 200m breaststroke. In 1980, the Olympic Team did not compete due to the American boycott of the Moscow Games.
