Joao Gomes Jr. took down the meet record in the men’s 50-meter breast at the 2015 Jose Finkel Trophy.

Gomes Jr. clocked a sizzling 27.03 to win the finale and break Felipe Silva’s 2009 record of 27.32. The swim also vaulted Gomes Jr. to seventh in the world rankings.

Silva took second tonight in 27.13, just off his ninth-ranked 27.07 from the Maria Lenk Trophy meet.  Felipe Lima wound up third in 27.40.

Marcelo Chierighini claimed the meet record in the men’s 100-meter free with a top time of 48.43.

That swim eclipsed the 49.00 set by Nicholas Dos Santos in 2009, but came up short of Chierighini’s 10th-ranked season best of 48.27 from Worlds.

Matheus Santana took second in a time of 48.82, while Fernando Pires claimed third in 49.04.

Duane Da Rocha Marce clipped the meet record in the women’s 200-meter back with a 2:12.49.  That swim cleared the 2:12.64 set by Fernanda Barbosa back in 2009.

Andrea Berrino took second in 2:16.63 with Florencia Perotti placing third in 2:17.07.

Jhennifer Conceicao just missed the meet record in the women’s 50-meter breast with a 31.50 for the win.  That came up just short of the 31.44 set by Alessandra Marchioro back in 2009.

Taylor McKeown came up short of a breaststroke sweep with a second-place time of 31.91, while Julia Sebastian took third in 32.13.

Larissa Oliveira topped the women’s 100-meter fee in 55.29, while Daynara De Paula placed just behind in second with a 55.32. Manuella Lyrio rounded out the top three in 55.80.

Leonardo De Deus won the men’s 200-meter back in 1:59.17.  Fernando Pires claimed his second podium of the night with a second-place 2:00.02 with Guilherme Guido placing third in 2:00.91.

Minas’ Tatiana Adorno, Taylor McKeown, Daiene Marcal Dias and Daiane Becker won the women’s 400-meter medley relay in 4:06.78, while Pinheiros’ Daniel Orzechowski, Joao Gomes Jr., Guilherme Rosolen and Bruno Fratus posted a men’s 400-meter medley relay time of 3:35.40 for the win.
