Japanese Swimmer Naoya Tomita Kicked Off Asian Games Team For Stealing Camera

INCHEON, South Korea, September 27. ACCORDING to the Japan Times, Japanese swimmer Naoya Tomita has been ejected from Japan’s Asian Games team after stealing a camera at the meet earlier this week.

Tomita admitted to stealing a camera left poolside by a South Korean photojournalist, and the act was confirmed by video surveillance. The Asian Games concluded Friday, and the Japanese Swimming Federation has said they will “deal with him severely.”

Sad to hear for all parties involved. He’ll have to face the cultural shame factor back home. People make mistakes; hope there’s a redemption story in the future.

He is a Volunteer Assistant Coach for UNM Lobos.
He might not need to go home to Japan for right now.
