Who says there’s no money in swimming? According to the SportsBusiness Journal, Amy Van Dyken ranked 11th last year among women athletes in endorsement money. According to the authoritative magazine, Van Dyken’s commercial endorsements – which included Speedo, General Mills, The Laser Center, milk, Nextel, Purina, Tag Heuer, Vanishing Point and VISA – came to $1.25 million, just behind gymnast Kerri Strug’s $1.3 million. Tennis player Monica Seles topped the list at $6 million.
