MINSK, Belarus, June 5. LAST week, while competing at the Belarus National Championships, Aleksandra Gerasimenia equaled the world record in the women’s 50-meter backstroke when she clocked a time of 28.19. Gerasimenia’s effort tied the record of Germany’s Janine Pietsch. Earlier in May, Gerasimenia won the sprint backstroke at the French Championships.
