FINA Men’s Water Polo World League Begins This Week

LAUSANNE – The 2015 season of the FINA Men’s Water Polo World League kicks off tomorrow, November 18, with the first home-and-away games of the three European groups.

Group A’s Greece receives Romania in Athens while Slovakia will face current World champions Hungary in Debrecen. In Group B, Serbia, 2014 FINA World Cup and World League winners, will play against Spain, World League runner-up in 2012, in Nis; Germany visits Russia in Volograd. In Group C, France and 2012 Olympic silver medallists Italy will face each other in Aix-en-Provence; Turkey meets reigning Olympic champions Croatia in Zagreb.

The second round on December 9 and 10, 2014 will feature the following match-ups:

Dec 9, 2014
Slovakia vs Greece in Novaky (SVK)
Germany vs Serbia in Hamburg (GER)
Spain vs Russia in Terrassa (ESP)
Montenegro vs Italy in Budva (MNE)
France vs Croatia in Montpellier (FRA)

Dec 10, 2014
Hungary vs Romania in Miskolc (HUN) – to be confirmed

The eight other rounds for these groups are scheduled on December 29, January 20, February 2, 17 and 20, March 17, 20 and 31, and April 14, 2014.

The composition of the European Groups of the 2015 Men’s World League is as follows:

GROUP A – Greece, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia
GROUP B – Germany, Russia, Serbia, Spain
GROUP C – Croatia, France, Italy, Montenegro, Turkey

Moreover, the Intercontinental Tournament for Africa, the Americas, Asia and Oceania will be held in May 2015 (dates and locations to be confirmed) while the Super Final of the competition will take place in Bergamo, Italy, on June 23-28.
