Ellen Olsson Doubles at 2014 Nordic Open Water Champs

KANGASALA, Finland, August 9. YESTERDAY and today, lake Vesijarvi in Finland was venue of the 2014 Nordic Open Water Championships, arranged by the Kuohu swim club in Kangasala as part of the annual Finnish championships.

Sweden’s Ellen Olsson won both the women’s 5 and 10 K events, with a convincing lead especially in the 10 K. Finland’s Annina Ala-Seppala and Laura Lajunen won silver and bronze in the 5 K, while Faroe Island’s Cecilia Eysturdal won silver in the 10 K, and Finland’s Benita Haikola bronze.

The men’s events were tighter tussles, as Denmark’s Laust Moesgaard touched out Sweden’s Gustav Swedenborg with a 1 second lead in the 5 K, and Swedenborg then won the 10 K only 7 seconds ahead of Denmark’s Magnus Andersen. Andersen won a medal in the 5 K also, taking bronze while Sweden’s Hugo Wiman took the bronze in the 10K.
