Dagny Knutson At It Again, Crushes National High School Record in 200 IM, Lowers 100 Free

GRAND FORKS, North Dakota, November 13. REIGNING Swimming World Female High School Swimmer of the Year Dagny Knutson is looking for a repeat. During prelims of the North Dakota State Championships, Knutson crushed the national high school record in the 200-yard IM, while also setting the 100-yard free high school mark.

Knutson checked in with a 1:53.82 during prelims today while swimming for Minot High. That performance smashed the overall and public school record of 1:56.45 set by two-time Swimming World High School Swimmer of the Year Mary Beck back in 2008. Notably, the time also surpassed the independent school record of 1:57.41 set by Kathleen Hersey also in 2008.

The effort also cut five seconds from Knutson's state record of 1:58.58 set in 2007, and put Knutson within striking range of the American record held by Julia Smit with a 1:52.79 at last year's NCAAs.
