Auburn Adds 2020 Verbal from Nitro Swimming’s Payton Marvin

NEW COMMIT: Austin, Texas native and current high school junior Payton Marvin has announced her verbal commitment to Auburn University as a member of the class of 2024. Her older sister, Sutton Marvin, is currently a freestyler at Nebraska.

Marvin swims year-round with Nitro Swimming and owns four Winter Junior standards with the U.S. Open cut in the 200m free. She most recently competed at College Station Speedo Sectionals where she finished seventh in both the 200m/400m free after placing 24th in the 500 free at Juniors West in December. This past summer, she recorded four best times at Austin Speedo Sectionals before going on to place fourth in the 200m free at Rochester Futures.

She told Swimming World:

“I am super excited to announce that I have verbally committed to study and swim at Auburn University! Thank you to my family, friends, and Nitro swimming for always supporting me. I look forward to being an Auburn Tiger! War Eagle!”

Her best times include:

100 free – 50.83
200 free – 1:48.60
500 free – 4:50.11
100 fly – 55.76
200 fly – 2:01.77

When she suits up for the Tigers at the start of the 2020-21 season, Marvin will add valuable depth to their freestyle and butterfly groups. Although she’s just outside of scoring range at the SEC Championships, Marvin has continously made improvements each season with well over a year to go before arriving at Auburn.
