Arizona Tops Texas in Final Dvision I Men’s Swimming Poll

EVANSTON, Illinois, March 1. THE University of Arizona men's swimming and diving teams wrapped up the 2010 dual meet season atop the final men's CSCAA/CollegeSwimming.com Division I Poll.

The Wildcats clawed their way up the ranks with each successive poll before cementing their position at the top with wins over Texas, Stanford and California. Those three teams finished second, third, and fourth respectively.

Texas had led the poll throughout the season, but fell to the Wildcats 281-271 in late January. Despite the loss, the Longhorns earned four first-place votes. The undefeated Florida Gators earned a pair of two first-place votes to move past SEC rival Auburn to finish fifth.

Nineteen teams changed position in the latest poll with Princeton becoming the only new entrant in the top twenty-five.

Forty-seven teams earned votes in the final poll which measures teams' relative dual-meet strength. Now the teams will turn their attention to the NCAA Championships, set for March 25-27th in Columbus, Ohio.

Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America, Inc. (CSCAA), is the oldest coaches association in the United States of America.
