Arizona Swimming Signs Four to National Letters of Intent

TUCSON, AZ – University of Arizona swimming head coach Frank Busch has announced that Diana Munz (Chagrin Falls HS, Moreland Hills, Ohio), Kim Robertson (Winter Park HS., Winter Park, Fla.), Matt Sawatzki (East Chapel Hill HS, Chapel Hill, N.C.) and Eric la Fleur (Katedralskolan HS, Lund, Sweden) have signed National Letters of Intent and will join the Wildcats beginning in the 2000-2001 academic year.

Munz, a nine-time U.S. National Champion, ended 1998 ranked No. 1 in the world in the 1,500 meter freestyle, second in the world in the 800 meter freestyle and seventh in the 400 meter freestyle. She has also been a four-time (1996-99) member of the U.S. National “A” Team.

Robertson, a member of the Highlander Aquatic Club of Orlando, Fla., is a high school All-American in the sprint freestyle events and holds three team records for her club.

The men’s middle/distance events will be an area that will be greatly aided by the addition of Sawatzki (Pronounced: Sah-watch-key). A member of the U.S. Junior National Team, according to Busch, “is so talented that we can count on him to contribute at the NCAA level as a freshman.”

The brother of current UA senior Oscar la Fleur, Eric la Fleur hails from Lund, Sweden and will also bolster the Wildcat sprint corps.
