Alyssa Marsh Leads SwimMAC Carolina at East Jr. Championships

The Speedo Winter Jr. Championships (East) kicked off in Atlanta, Georgia on Wednesday, Dec. 9.

Wednesday evening featured timed finals in both the 200-yard medley relay and 800-yard freestyle relay.

SwimMAC Carolina got off to a dominant start in the women’s 200-yard medley relay. SwimMAC Carolina teams finished in both first and third place. The first place team consisted of backstroker Lexi Souther, breastroker Caroline Hauder, butterflier Alyssa Marsh and freestyler Jessica Merritt and posted a time of 1:39.75.

Nashville Aquatic Club earned the silver medal. Backstroker Alex Wash, breaststroker Allie Raab, butterflier Tatum Wade and freestyler Julia-Jane Eskew posted a time of 1:39.84.

SwimMAC’s bronze medal team consisted of backstroker Julia Menkhaus, breaststroker Meghan Dupay, butterflier Christina Lappin and freestyler Erika Brown. The team posted a time of 1:40.10.

The Bolles School Sharks won the men’s event in 1:28.64. The team consisted of backstroker Andy Song An, breaststroker James Daugherty, butterflier Ariel Spektor and freestyler Tyler Rice.

Upper Dublin Aquatics finished in second place. The team of backstroker Alessandro Boratto, breaststroker Wyatt Amdor, butterflier Michael Jensen and freestyler Jake Sannem posted a time of 1:29.36. NOVA of Virginia took the bronze medal with a time of 1:29.89. Their team consisted of backstroker Sam Cuthbert, breaststroker Charlie Swanson, butterflier Ted Schubert and freestyler Aaron Schultz.

After a dominant showing in the evening’s first relay, SwimMAC Carolina won the women’s 800-yard freestyle relay in 7:11.88. The team was comprised of Brown, Marsh, Lappin and Merritt.

Nashville Aquatic Club took home the silver in the relay. The team consisted of Wade, Walsh, Ella Nelson and Raab and posted a time of 7:12.64. Gator Swim Club won the bronze medal. Talia Bates, Kirschtine Balbuena, Kahra Williams and Isabel Ivey posted a time of 7:13.66.

Upper Dublin took home the gold medal in the men’s relay with a time of 6:33.56. The team consisted of Boratto, Amdor, Sannem and Jensen – the same swimmers on their second place 200-yard medley relay.

NOVA of Virginia touched second in the race. Schubert, Swanson, Schultz and Jac Cortright posted a time of 6:34.17. Bolles School was third with a time of 6:35.11. Their team consisted of Song An, Nicholas Hackett, Dakota Mahaffey and Rice.

Preliminaries tomorrow morning will begin at 9 a.m.

I think Merritt led SwimMac women. They announced Marsh as the anchor but it was Merritt. Also the B flyer for their medley was faster than Marsh on the A Medley.

Article clearly states Marsh was Fly leg. Split show her 50 Fly was fastest in the field. Congratulations to all the fast swimmers but more comprehension work to be done on result readers.
