Alexander Dale Oen Autopsy Inconclusive; More Tests Could Take Up to Two Months

FLAGSTAFF, Arizona, May 3. AN autopsy performed on the body of Alexander Dale Oen has been deemed inconclusive, according to a report by the Arizona Republic. Dale Oen, 26, passed away Monday night of what was initially considered to be cardiac arrest.

“The initial autopsy revealed no anatomic cause of death and no trauma associated with the death,” Barbara Worgess, a chief health officer for the Coconino County Public Health Services District, said in a prepared statement.

Investigators are continuing to dive deeper into what might have caused the death of Dale Oen, with the Republic reporting that it could take “eight weeks or longer to get final test results.”

Dale Oen won the 100-meter breaststroke at the 2011 World Championships just days after his home country of Norway was besieged by a terrorist attack that killed 77 people. He was also considered a favorite for the Olympic gold medal in that event during the upcoming London Games.
