David Boudia Named USA Diving Athlete of the Year

GREENSBORO, North Carolina, September 17. DAVID Boudia, gold medalist in the 10-meter platform diving at the 2012 London Olympics, won the coveted USA Diver of the Year Award at the United States Aquatic Sports (USAS) Convention over the weekend. Boudia, who also won bronze in the synchronized 10-meter diving with partner Nicholas McCrory in London, is the first USA Diver to win an Olympic gold since the 2000 Sydney Olympics. Additionally, he is the first male USA Diver to win an Olympic gold in the 10-meter platform since Greg Louganis won duel golds in the 10-meter platform and 3-meter springboard at the 1988 Olympics.

Boudia also competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the 10-meter platform and 10-meter synchronized diving. Boudia has been a member of the USA National Diving team since 2005, and has won medals at the 2007, 2009 and 2011 World Championships.

Boudia was named USA Diver of the Year at the same conference that awarded Missy Franklin the USA Swimmer of the Year.
