Eastern Michigan Women Overtake Ohio Bobcats

ATHENS, Ohio, October 27. THE Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team opened the 2012-13 campaign with a victory over the Ohio University Bobcats Saturday, Oct. 27. EMU was able to knock-off the Bobcats, 168-132.

Briana Emig led the Eagles with four first-place finishes. She took the 1,000-freestyle in 10:22.15, the 200-freestyle in 1:51.04, the 500-freestyle in 4:58.78 and was a member of the 400-freestyle relay who won in 3:30.78.

The Eagles took the top-three spots in the 1,000-freestyle with Emig coming in first, Audra Burtch in second (10:25.50) and Wesley Blassneck (10:32.83) in third. EMU was also able to take the top-three in the 200-freestyle Emig in first, Monica Dorszewski (1:54.73) and Helena Tolic (1:55.96) in third. Llorente Lopez helped the Eagles with a second-place finish in the 100-backstroke, touching the wall in 1:06.92.

Jessica Godlewski took first in the 200-butterfly with a 2:02.78, Jacqueline Swartz posted a second place finish with a 2:05.42 and Clarice Daniel took third with a 2:07.14.

Kelly Hendricks took second in the three-meter dive with a score of 283.80 and the Eagles took the first-four spots in the 200-breaststroke. Dorszewski took first in the 200-breaststroke with a 2:22.41, Lopez placed second with a 2:23.33, Vanessa Weidner took third with a 2:23.54 and Lauren Kalinosky finished fourth with a 2:23.71. Danielle Hulvey took first in the one-meter dive with a 317.02.
