Ohio Swimming Hires Derick Roe as Assistant

ATHENS, Ohio, October 23. OHIO Swimming and Diving will have a new member on its coaching staff in advance of the 2012-13 season, the program announced on Monday. Derick Roe will be joining the Bobcats from Colgate to take on the role of Assistant Coach.

Roe has been with Colgate since the 2010-11 season. Prior to his time in Hamilton, New York, he spent four years swimming for Eastern Michigan University. While with the Eagles, he was a four-year letterwinner and a two-time NCAA Mid-Major All-American. He was twice named a MAC Swimmer of the Year and still holds the MAC record in the 50 Freestyle.

Ohio is coming off a strong season during which it finished second at the 2012 Mid-American Conference Championships and was named the Mid-Major National Champion by CollegeSwimming.com. The Bobcats will open the 2012-13 regular season on Saturday, Oct. 27 at home against Mid-American Conference rival Eastern Michigan. The first event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. from the Ohio University Aquatic Center.
