Engelsman Moves Training to The Race Club in Florida

MELBOURNE, Australia, September 13. THE sixth-place finisher in the 50-meter freestyle at last year’s Olympic Games in Athens, Michelle Engelsman has shifted her training from Melbourne to the Florida Keys. According to a story in the Herald Sun, the Australian is training with Gary Hall Jr.’s training group at The Race Club.

Engelsman is expected to spend a month in Florida as she prepares for the Commonwealth Games Trials, scheduled for early next year. Prior to the Athens Games, Engelsman spent three months training with The Race Club, which features a training environment for many of the world’s top sprinters. An eight-time Olympic medalist, Hall organized the group.

"It did such wonders for my swimming career the last time I was here," Engelsman told the newspaper. "It's great being in a program where everyone is focused on the same event."

Engelsman did not compete at the World Championships over the summer as she failed to qualify for the event, due in part to the loaded nature of Australia’s female sprinters. The Aussies boast the likes of Libby Lenton, Jodie Henry and Alice Mills. Engelsman was training in Melbourne before moving to Florida and will relocate to Sydney upon her return to Australia.
