Brooke Hanson has Surgery to Remove Tonsils -- September 6, 2005
SYDNEY, Australia, September 6. ALTHOUGH she won a bronze medal in the 50-meter breaststroke during July’s World Championships in Montreal, Brooke Hanson didn’t have the greatest of competitions. Well, it appears illness played a major role in her performances, as Hanson had surgery on Monday to remove her tonsils, according to the Herald Sun.
According to the article, Hanson was plagued by a serious throat infection during the World Champs, a reason for her inability to reach the medal stand in the 100 breaststroke or 200 individual medley. The 27-year-old, who won silver in the 100 breast at the Athens Olympics, will be out of the water for roughly two weeks. However, she is expected to be at full strength for the Commonwealth Games Trials in January.
