Pacific Masters Cruise in Santa Cruz

Eight Masters world records were set at the Pacific Masters Championships in Santa Cruz, July 23-25. Eighty-five year-old Jean Durston led the way with four, plus an additional two national marks for good measure.

Durston’s WR’s came in the women’s 85-89 50m fly (1;11.58), 200m fly (5:52.33), 200m IM (5:16.63) and 400m IM (11:10.37). Gail Roper set global marks for women 70-74 in the 50m free (35.86) and 50m fly (41.49).

On the women’s side, Ray Taft set a WR in the 1500m free (26:51.43) plus three new 80-84 national marks. Jim Triolo established a WR in the 200m back for men 85-89 at 4:34.11.
