Sports Publications International Named Official Supplier to USA Swimming -- June 8, 2005
Phoenix, Ariz., June 7, SPORTS Publications International, publishers of Swimming World Magazine and SwimmingWorldMagazine.com, and USA Swimming have signed a four-year agreement designating Sports Publications International as an “Official Supplier” to USA Swimming.
USA Swimming and Sports Publications International will collaborate in their editorial and marketing efforts, each with a goal to grow and enhance the sport of swimming throughout the United States. These collaborative efforts will be reflected in coverage of news related to USA Swimming, results and meet coverage from competitions both nationally and internationally and a combination of event marketing resources to promote the sport of swimming.
“Our reporting role in the sport as an independent resource will not change. However, we will play a more active roll in reinforcing the sport through content that helps USA Swimming recruit, educate and retain swimmers in the sport,” said Brent Rutemiller, Sports Publications International CEO. “We will work together to promote and showcase all that is good in our sport. The most exciting aspect of the partnership is that it will permeate down to the grassroots level, with local swim committees (LSCs) and clubs all benefiting promotionally and financially from this agreement.”
Under the agreement Sports Publications International agrees to support USA Swimming in many ways, in addition to a royalty program through which Sports Publications will donate up to $250,000 per calendar year to USA Swimming.
“USA Swimming strives to pursue relationships with organizations that enable us to fulfill our mission of building and promoting the sport of swimming,” said Chuck Wielgus, USA Swimming Executive Director. “A partnership with Sports Publications International represents a positive step in extending our reach within the swimming community.”
LSCs and clubs will be contacted over the next few months to participate in the promotion of this relationship. Swimming World Magazine currently has numerous relationships with swim clubs around the United States and has seen results in these grassroots marketing efforts, "Every swimmer on City of Plano Swim Teams (COPS) receives Swimming World Magazine.
