Van Dyken Signs Record Deal -- March 17, 1999

Four-time Olympic gold medalist Amy Van Dyken signed a record endorsement deal with Speedo/Authentic Fitness. The four-to five-year deal reportedly is the most lucrative in Speedo's history, surpassing the contract Lenny Krayzelburg signed last year and worth "well into six-figures each year" plus incentive bonuses.

An ebullient Amy told Swimming World: "I am very happy about it. Yipee!"

Van Dyken's agent, Janey Miller, also revealed that her client signed another "very substantial" four-to five-year deal with Glaxo Pharmaceuticals. Van Dyken will be a spokeswoman for Glaxo's asthma products and has already filmed a commercial with track star Jackie Joyner-Kersee and football player, Jerome Bettis.
