Ladies Sizzle at Southern Zone Age Group Meet

By M. Duncan Scott

Ft. LAUDERDALE, Fla., August 3-8. SOUTHEASTERN LSC won the Southern Zone Age Group Championships held at the Hall of Fame pool facility earlier this month. It was the only squad to break the 1000 point barrier.

The outstanding individual meet record-breaker was Devon Callaghan of Kentucky in the 15-18 girls with three:
100 Breaststroke 1:13.56;
200 Breaststroke 2:40.33; and
200 IM 2:23.42.

The women were hot compared to the men, with 14 new meet marks and only three for the boys. In the guys' defense, though, when you look over their zone records you see a really tough book where many marks were national records when set.
