North Carolina Team Sets Masters World Record in 200m Medley Relay in Men's 70+ Age Group -- August 19, 2004 200 Medley Relay

SAVANNAH, Georgia, August 19. ON August 14, this team of four North Carolina Masters swimmers averaging over 70 years of age, smashed their own national record of 2:26.17 and established a new world record in the 200 meter medley relay in the men's 280+ division.

The team of (from left to right) Clarke Mitchell, 72, of Asheville, NC; John Kortheuer, 73, of Charlotte; Dick Kitchell, 64, f lowing Rock; and Dick Webber, 75, of Hendersonville clocked 2:22.68 at the US Masters Long Course National Championships in Savannah, Ga.
