Popov Undergoes Arthroscopic Surgery -- January 18, 1999

Alexander Popov did not compete in the Sydney World Cup meet because he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Friday. An injury originally caused while playing with a dog when he was in his teens. He would miss only about a week of training if the operation was successful.
