Feds Probe Utah Olympic Committee -- December 19, 1998

The Justice Department is reviewing allegations of bribery in Salt Lake's winning bid for the 2002 Olympics even as city officials acknowledge giving a paid internship to the son of an IOC member. Attorney General Janet Reno said in Washington the department is reviewing allegations that the Salt Lake bid committee provided scholarships and other favors to IOC members and their relatives in efforts to win votes.
