Jesse "The Body" Ventura -- November 6, 1998

In what the Associated Press called "one of the more improbable upsets in U.S. political history," former age group and high school swimmer, Ventura defeated St. Paul's mayor and the state's Attorney General to become the Governor of Minnesota. Ventura swam for Minneapolis Roosevelt High School and the Gopher Swim Club before becoming a frogman in the Navy Seals, where he served in Vietnam. In an interview with Amy Van Dyken during last spring's Nationals in Minneapolis, Ventura, a one-time professional wrestler, movie actor, and radio talkshow personality, explained his nickname to Amy:

"I used to wear a size 28 Speedo. It was because of that swimsuit that I got named 'The Body.'"
