Markus Rogan Honored in Austria

VIENNA, Austria, January 22. AUSTRIAN backstroke specialist Markus
Rogan has been honored with the "Silbernes Ehrenzeichen für Verdienste für
die Republik Osterreich" (Silver Medal for Service to the Austrian Republic), in recognition of his swimming success, reports Insweep.com.

Rogan, 22, won silver in the 200 meter backstroke at the 2001 Worlds and silver in both the 100m and 200m back at the 2002 Europeans.

The honour, considered one of the most prestigious the Austrian Republic can confer, was presented to Rogan's family and his girlfirend on Monday, as he is in the US, where he stars on the Stanford University swim team.
