Hackett Breaks Short-Course World Record -- September 28, 1998

PERTH, AUSTRALIA - Australia's Grant Hackett, 17, obliterated the world record in the men's 1500m freestyle at the Australian National Short-Course Championships.

Hackett's time of 14:19.55 beat the previous mark of 14:26.52 set by fellow Australian Kieren Perkins.
