US Pan Am Maccabiah Team Tours Chile

SANTIAGO, Chile, January 4. BUENOS dias.

Well, our time in Chile at the Pan Am Maccabiah Games is coming to an end. Tomorrow we will need to pack up our things, attend Closing Ceremonies for the Games and say goodbye to all of the great new friends we´ve made. It´ll be rough but we we are all jotting down email address so we can keep in touch and maybe meet up again at a Maccabiah down the road.

Yesterday we all took a trip to the shore with the Aussie team. The cities we visited are called Valparaiso and Viña del Mar. They were pretty and we got to see the Pacific Ocean even if the sky was cloudy and the water was FREEZING! People had fun digging in the sand and lying around.

We also ate some Chilean food at a reasaurant there. Becca had some sea bass and Sara had (guess what!!) …chicken. They were both de-lish. Chilean food is all about freshness, whether it's meat or fruits and vegetibles. There isn´t a whole lot of seasoning. Chileans like to have the natural flavor come through.

After the beach we also got to drive by some rocks just offshore, which had sea lions lying all over them. Quite a sight! Sara says that if we would´ve driven another five hours south, we could´ve seen some wild penguins as well.

Since we are leaving tomorrow, this will be our last diary entry from Chile but we will let you know all about the closing fiesta when we get home.

Adios,

Becca, Sara and Leah Schwartz
