WASHINGTON - 50% of the athletes picked for random drug tests by the USOC escape the exams, partly because of the cost of tracking them down. "Everybody's got to get together and pool some money," Amy Van Dyken said. "Let's make sports clean." USOC executive director Dick Schultz said that drug tests cost the committee an average of $428 each from a four-year budget of $11.5 million, 2.7% of its total spending plan. He said the USOC was committed to the program and denied that cost was hampering the effort against drugs. "
