World Cup Tour to Expand to 9 Cities Next Year

LAUSANNE, Jan. 28. WITH the success of the 2002-03 FINA World Cup tour, FINA — swimming's international governing body — has decided to expand the tour from seven to nine stops next year, officials announced today.

The World Cup has contained nine meets in the past, but was shortened to seven meets this season.

The 2003-04 World Cup will see three new cities on the tour: Daejeon, South Korea; Durban, South Africa; and Mexico City, Mexico.

The 2003-04 schedule:

Daejeon, South Korea: November 24-25
Melbourne, Australia: November 28-30
Durban, South Africa: December 5-6

Four cities — Berlin, Moscow, Paris and Stockholm — will compete for three European dates on January 9-10, January 13-14 and January 17-18.

New York, USA: January 30-31
Mexico City, Mexico February 3-4
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil February 7-9
