Japanese National Sports Festival: Aya Terakawa, Ryosuke Irie, Kosuke Hagino Post Ranked Times

CHIBA, Japan, September 12. DURING the third night of long course meter swimming at the Japanese National Sports Festival, several world-ranked times went up on the scoreboard.

In relay action, Aya Terakawa clocked a 59.36 100 back leadoff, while Shiho Sakai posted the second-fastest leadoff with a 1:00.95. Yesterday, Terakawa posted a Japanese national record 59.13.

Ryosuke Irie improved his fourth-ranked season best of 53.22 to 53.09 with his 100 back relay leadoff. Shohei Uchida (55.59), Kazuki Watanabe (55.63) and Takashi Iyobe (55.89) had notable 100 back leadoffs as well.

Kosuke Hagino moved up to 21st in the world rankings with a 2:00.22 to win the boys 15-16 200 IM title.

Yayoi Matsumoto won the women's open 50 free title in 25.67. Haruka Ueda placed second in 25.70, while Hanae Ito took third in 25.88. Kenta Ito topped the men's open 50 free in 22.60. Kazuhisa Hotta (22.72) and Ranmaru Harada (22.75) placed second and third.

In other age group racing, Haruki Washio won the boys 15-16 400 free in 3:56.21, while Asami Chida topped the girls 15-18 400 free title in 4:13.17. Junpei Higashi claimed the boys 17-18 400 free crown in 3:52.07, while Miku Kanasashi topped the girls 15-16 100 breast in 1:09.39. Kohei Goto snatched the boys 15-16 100 breast title in 1:02.46.

Syoko Tanabe touched first in the girls 17-18 50 free, while Katsumi Nakamura turned in a 23.27 to win the boys 17-18 50 free. Miyu Otsuka claimed the girls 15-16 200 IM title in 2:15.46.
