USA Swimming Sectionals, Mount Hood: Logan Storie, Missy Franklin Win On Distance Night -- July 20, 2010

MOUNT HOOD, Oregon, July 20. THE first night of a jam-packed weekend of USA Swimming Sectional action took place with a Mount Hood kick-start. This meet is taking place in long course meter format.

Corvallis' Logan Storie cruised to victory in the men's 800 free with an 8:11.25. The effort cleared the listed meet record of 8:13.03 clocked by Jay Benner back in 1986. North Jeffco's Andrew Chevalier finished second in 8:17.49, while Colorado Springs' Patrick Scally placed third in 8:22.42.


Colorado Star Missy Franklin, better known as a budding sprint star, demonstrated some range with a victorious time of 8:48.86 in the women's 800 free. Teammate Kelly Naze clinched second in the event in 8:59.10, while Tucson Ford's Lauren Baker claimed third overall in 9:01.14.
