German Long Course Nationals: Steffen Deibler Doubles, Silke Lippok, Daniela Samulski, Dorothea Brandt Move Up World Rankings

BERLIN, Germany, July 2. DAY three of the German Long Course Nationals produced even more world-ranked efforts, including a solid sprint double by Steffen Deibler.

Deibler claimed the men's 50 free title in 22.17 to move to 12th in the world rankings, breaking a 12th-place tie with Marco Orsi. Jonas Lunemann finished second in 22.63, while Christoph Fildebrandt wound up third in 22.85. He then doubled with a sterling time of 23.51 to win the men's 50 fly. That time puts him fourth in the world behind Rafael Munoz (23.45), Geoff Huegill (23.46) and Evgeny Korotyshkin (23.50). Philip Heintz took second in 24.29, while Leif Marten Kruger placed third in 24.59.

Silke Lippok put herself amongst the top swimmers in the world in the women's 200 free with a smoking 1:57.51 to win the event. That time stands sixth in the rankings this year. Franziska Jansen took second in 1:59.96, while Nina Schiffer garnered third in 2:00.49.

Daniela Samulski notched a time of 28.16 in the women's 50 back for the win, and moved to sixth in the world. Lisa Graf took second in 29.13, while Jenny Mensing wound up third in 29.14. Dorothea Brandt moved to 15th in the world rankings in the women's 50 breast with a winning time of 31.69. Caroline Ruhnau placed second in 31.98, while Kerstin Vogel claimed third in 32.00.

Hendrik Feldwehr cruised to victory in the men's 50 breast with a 27.62. That performance fell short of his third-ranked time of 27.50 set during prelims. Marco Koch touched second in 28.37, while Johannes Neumann earned third in 28.41.

Lisa Vitting won the women's 50 fly in 27.19, while Saskia Donat took second in 27.26. Uta Muller grabbed third in 27.51. Dominik Keil earned the men's 50 back title in 26.16, just clipping Jan-Philip Glania's second-place effort of 26.19. Felix Wolf pocketed third in 26.45.
