The Morning Swim Show, May 27, 2010: Could the High-Tech Suits Stay in Masters Swimming? Rob Butcher Discusses Possibility

PHOENIX, Arizona, May 27. SHORTLY after nearly 2,000 Masters swimmers convened in Atlanta for the short course nationals, USMS Executive Director Rob Butcher joins The Morning Swim Show to ponder the possibility of keeping the high-tech suits in short course yards competition.

Butcher says the reasons to keep the suits are to satisfy the older swimmers who need the compression the suits provide, and it could attract more elite athletes to the meet, which makes it more exciting. Butcher also talks about a recent deal to host the 2012 long course nationals at the site of the 2012 US Olympic Trials, which could be a boon for both USA Swimming and US Masters Swimming.
