International Swim Meet of Lyon: Randall Bal, Inge Dekker Shine On Final Day

LYON, France, March 7. THE final day of action at the International Swim Meet of Lyon produced a few more meet records.

Randall Bal of the U.S. posted a meet record in the men's 100 back with a time of 54.45. The time moved him into sixth in the world this year behind Hayden Stoeckel's 54.40 set last month. Bastiaan Lijesen (55.79) and Damiano Lestingi (55.83) finished second and third.

Inge Dekker clocked a blazing time of 58.97 in the women's 100 fly for the win. The swim moved her into the top eight in the world this year, the only women to break 59 seconds so far. Hinkelien Schreuder finished second in 1:02.40, while Valentina Zonno claimed third in 1:02.78.

Italy's Cesare Sciocchetti turned in a time of 3:53.18 to win the men's 400 free in a meet-record time. Teammate Samuel Pizzetti finished second in 3:55.01, while Riccardo De Lucia claimed third in 3:56.32. Sharon Van Rouwendaal checked in with another meet record, this time with a 2:14.15 in the women's 200 back. Wendy Van Der Zanden touched second in 2:15.63, while Phoebe Lenderyou took third in 2:17.74.

Andrew Mayor earned the men's 200 fly title in 2:01.33. Joseph Davide Natullo placed second in 2:02.32, while Joeri Verlinden grabbed third in 2:02.87. Ginevra Ferronetti topped the women's 100 breast in 1:12.39. Veronica Panattoni placed second in 1:13.43, while Adele Bolla took third in 1:14.84.

Jakob Johann Sveinsson paced the men's 200 breast finale in 2:17.36. Flavio Bizzari earned second in 2:20.20, while Loris Facci finished third in 2:22.26. Ranomi Kromowidjojo won the women's 200 free in 2:00.87, while Flavia Zoccari (2:02.17) and Renata Spagnolo (2:02.59) completed the top three.

Italy swept the top four in the men's 100 free with Marco Orsi winning in 50.16. Luca Dotto (50.32), Gianluca Maglia (50.74) and Christian Galenda (50.78) comprised the rest of the sweep. Italy's Francesca Aceto captured the women's 400 IM in 4:54.23. Lucy Gordon took second in 4:57.87, while Luisa Trombetti grabbed third in 4:58.41.

Luca Dioli finished the meet with a 2:04.80 in the men's 200 IM. Natullo picked up a second podium with a 2:06.24, while Marco Pelizzon claimed third in 2:11.00.
