Florida Senior Swimming Championships: Ryan Lochte, Erika Erndl Perform

ORLANDO, Florida, March 2. OLYMPIAN Ryan Lochte from Daytona Beach Swim Team and National Team Member Erica Erndl from Swim Florida had multiple event wins during the Florida Senior Swimming SCY Championships at the Swim Orlando YMCA.

Lochte swam to wins in four different events including the 100 free (43.82), 200 free (1:36.19), 100 fly (47.29), and 200 back (1:41.87). Lochte's teammate Rexford Tullius also had multiple wins including the 100 back (47.84) and 200 IM (1:49.37).

Erndl swam to three individual wins in the 50 free (22.73), 100 free (49.76) and 200 free (1:45.89). Teammate Stephanie Peacock also had multiple wins including the 500 free (4:42.29) and the 200 fly (2:00.31).

Melanie Margalis from St. Petersburg Aquatics won the 200 IM (1:59.08) and the 100 back (54.95). Lysistrati Halkides was also a multiple winner, winning the 100 breast (1:03.27) and 200 breast (2:13.97)

Other event winners for the women included Hillary Petersen and Stephanie Proud from Gator Swim Club, who won the 1000 free (9:54.45) and 200 back (1:56.54), respectively. Jennie Smith from the University of Florida won the 400 IM (4:11.61), while teammate Corinne Showalter won the 1650 free (16:24.11). Abby King of the Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club picked up a win in the 100 fly (55.15).

Logan Storie from the University of Florida won the 500 free (4:24.61) and the 1650 free (15:14.03).

Other event winners included University of Florida swimmers John Robert Lehtonen, Brian Howell, Jose Crescimbeni, and Rodion Davelaar. Lehtonen won the 200 breast (1:59.01), Howell won the 400 IM (3:49.53), Crescimbeni won the 200 fly (1:45.72) and Davelaar won the 100 breast (55.03).

For the 15-16 Age Group, two swimmers stood out during the four-day meet, Megan Fonteno from the Bolles School Sharks and Nicholas Caldwell from the Sarasota YMCA Sharks. Fonteno had five individual wins, three of which were record-breaking swims. She broke 15-16 Junior Olympic records in the 100 fly (54.70), 200 fly (2:00.30), and 100 free (50.29) and also won the 50 free (23.22) and 200 free (1:48.28).

Caldwell also broke a Junior Olympic Record in the 1650 free (15:21.58) and won the 1000 free (9:18.31), 200 IM (1:53.19), 400 IM (4:00.10), and 200 back (1:50.61).

The Bolles School Sharks won two out of the three women's relays including the 800 free relay (7:24.99) and 400 medley relay (3:51.10), while Swim Florida took the win in the 400 free relay (3:26.92).

For the men's relays, Florida State University won the 800 free relay (6:49.28), Swim Florida won the 400 free relay (3:03.62), and the Bolles School Sharks won the 400 medley relay (3:28.55).

The University of Florida won the team championship with a combined score of 1434 points, only, 21 points ahead of the Bolles School Sharks who settled for second with 1413 points. The Sarasota YMCA Sharks rounded out the top three with 897 points.
