Swimming World Five Star Jon Nunez Pledges College Commitment

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 7. SWIMMING World five star Jon Nunez has made his decision on where he's planning to swim in college next year.

Nunez, who swims for Swim Florida and Fort Myers High, will be staying close to home as he heads to the University of Florida. He'll join fellow five stars Kaitlin Frehling and Alicia Mathieu swimming for Gregg Troy in the Class of 2010.

Nunez is a sprinter with long course senior national cuts in the 50-meter free (23.28) and 100-meter free (51.56). He also owns top times in short course yards in the 50-yard free (20.72), 100-yard free (45.65) and 200-yard free (1:42.39).

"I chose the Gators for many reasons," Nunez told Swimming World. "The overall environment and atmosphere of the school and team is great. The academics are the best, bar none. Last and certainly not least, the work ethic at Florida is one I feel will push me to be the best I can be."
