Swimming World Five Star Mary Kate McNeilis Chooses College

PHOENIX, Arizona, October 3. ANOTHER Swimming World five-star recruit from the Class of 2010 just took herself out of the recruiting game when Mary Kate McNeilis made her collegiate choice.

McNeilis, who swims for the Westerville Aquatic Club in Ohio, decided to head to the Southeastern Conference as a member of Matt Kredich's Tennessee Lady Volunteers. McNeilis owns long course senior national cuts in the 100-meter back (1:01.95) and 200-meter back (2:13.01). She also would have qualified to swim at the 2009 NCAA Division I Championships in the 100-yard back with a time of 53.55.

"I love Tennessee because of all the tradition and the family feeling I got when I visited," McNeilis told Swimming World. "The relationships the girls have with the coaches are unbeatable. The team was so welcoming, and it really felt like home to me. It is a beautiful campus with a great training facility, and I have so much trust in Matt and Jen [Arndt] and their vision for the swimming program. I would love to help win the first women's swimming national championship at Tennessee. They are the best coaching duo in the country, and I'm really excited to have the chance to work with them and be a part of the Lady Vol swimming family. GO LADY VOLS!"
