Marleen Veldhuis Withdraws From European Short Course Championships -- September 10, 2009

ISTANBUL, Turkey, September 10. WORLD record holder Marleen Veldhuis of The Netherlands has released a statement withdrawing from the European Short Course Championships this December according to Zwemsite.nl. There is talk that she will focus on the Swimcup taking place in Eindhoven.

The team scheduled to compete at the European Short Course Championships in December from The Netherlands is:

Men

Sebastiaan Verschuren , Job Kienhuis, Arjen van der Meulen, Nick Driebergen, Robin van Aggele , Lennart Stekelenburg, Thijs Valkengoed, Bastiaan Tamminga , Joeri Verlinden en Bastiaan Lijesen. Additionally, Zwemsite is reporting that Pieter van den Hoogenband has been named the tournament director for the Swimcup in Eindhoven, and the pool where it takes place is now called the Pieter van den Hoogenband Swimstadium.

September 11, 2009 Good move. She needs it to get back to where she should be by Shanghai 2011. She was not happy at all, very sad in fact, with how she was doing in Rome. Hope this works out for her.
