Rod Hunte Named Assistant Swimming and Diving Coach at Valpo

VALPARAISO, Indiana, August 26. VALPARAISO University head swimming and diving coach Howard Hunte has announced the hiring of Rod Hunte as an assistant coach for the Crusader program beginning this fall.

Hunte was the head coach of the Fairmont Aquatic Club in Fairmont, W. Va. during the summers of 2005 and 2006 and was an assistant coach on the Fairmont Area Swim Team from 2000-2007.

He was a swimmer at Fairmont State University from 2002-2006 where he was a three-time All-American in the 200 breaststroke. He also was an All-West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference pick and team captain.

Most recently, Hunte did an internship at West Virginia University with the school's strength and conditioning program.

Hunte earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Fairmont State in biology and a Bachelor of Arts degree from West Virginia in foreign languages.
