Canadian Short Course Relay Record Falls at Canada Summer Games -- August 26, 2009

CHARLOTTETOWN, Canada, August 26. LAST night, a foursome from Quebec broke the Canadian record in the women's 200 free relay during short course meter action at the Canada Summer Games.

The team of Sandrine Mainville (25.23), Roxane Lemieux (25.44), Alyson Ackman (25.30) and Chelsea Rolin (24.80) completed the sprint free relay in 1:40.77. That swim wiped out the national mark of 1:41.10 set in 2003 by the Toronto All Stars.

"We didn't expect that at all," Rolin told Swimming Canada. "It wasn't something we thought about during the race but we were really pumped up. I think we wanted to make up for not winning a medal yesterday in the 4X200 freestyle relay and we really wanted to win the gold medal. The record was a bonus."
