PHOENIX, Arizona, August 5. THE first night of finals at the 2009 US Open highlights today's news segment of The Morning Swim Show.

Elaine Breeden, Kate Ziegler, Troy Prinsloo, Katy Freeman and Bobby Bollier are just a few of the names mentioned in today's show. Busch also talks about Jessica Hardy's official return to competition at the US Open after serving a one-year suspension. Watch the video in the player below. The full transcript of the show follows.

A couple of Olympians were the ones to watch Tuesday night. Elaine Breeden just missed out on a spot on the US world championship team last month in the 200 fly, and last night she won at the US Open with a 2:08.07. Breeden swam a 2:07.40 in Indianapolis last month.

Kate Ziegler raced the 800 free in Federal Way, finishing second with an 8:38.50. Ziegler was recovering from swine flu symptoms last month and was unable to attend the world trials. The winner of the women's 800 was Amber McDermott of Longhorn Aquatics with an 8:27.90.

The men's 200 breast and 200 fly featured a couple of close finishes. Robert Lovelace was more than a second ahead of Aaron Opell at the 150 mark of the 200 breast, but Opell produced a 32.6 final 50 to close in on Lovelace, who managed to win with a 2:10.38. Opell's time was 2:10.63. Hidemasa Sano was in the same position as Lovelace in the 200 fly, leading Bobby Bollier by almost a second. Bollier closed the gap the final 50 and almost caught Sano, who won with a 1:55.72. Bollier was second with a 1:55.87.

In the women's 200 breast, World University Games gold medalist Katy Freeman won with a 2:22.51. The men's 1500 was the final event of the night and Troy Prinsloo, who represents South Africa and is the reigning 1650 NCAA champion, pulled ahead of Michael Kleuh at the 1100 meter mark to win with a 15:10.62. Kleuh, who finished in ninth place in the mile at world trials, swam a time last night that would have put him on the world championship team. Also, Kleuh was under Larsen Jensen's American record pace for 300 meters.

Today's events are the 400 IM, 100 free and 200 back. Jessica Hardy made her official return to competition after a one-year suspension in prelims of the 100 free this morning. Also look out for Nick Thoman in the 200 back. Thoman was fourth in that event at the world trials, missing the world championship team by six-tenths of a second.
