INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, July 9. DARA Torres put together a winning effort in the women's splash-and-dash to earn a spot on the World Championships team heading to Rome.

Torres claimed the title in 24.423, which is the fourth-best time in the world this year. Only Marleen Veldhuis (23.96), Libby Trickett (24.15) and Therese Alshammar (24.17) have been faster in 2009.

"The adrenaline is kicking in, so I don't think about the knee that much," Torres said. "I just try to push it out of my head. Age is just a number, right? Everything I do is for Tessa. She enjoys coming out and watching me swim."

SwimAtlanta's Amanda Weir finished second with a personal-best time of 24.70. Her previous lifetime best came during prelims with a 24.94. Her 24.70 moved her into the top 20 all time.

Tucson Ford's Lara Jackson just missed out on a World Championship spot with a third-place time of 24.71, while Tennessee's Christine Magnuson finished fourth in 25.09.

July 9, 2009 Dara didn't seem too happy with the time. On a sidenote, if she hadn't gone lower elsewhere in the summer, Lia Neal set the 13-14 NAG record in prelims with a 25.72. Her listed record from January is 25.82.
