Michael Phelps Suspension Concludes -- May 5, 2009

BALTIMORE, Maryland, May 5. THE three-month code of conduct suspension levied against Michael Phelps, based on the swimming superstar's admission that a tabloid image depicting him holding a bong up to his month was legitimate, has come to an end.

Phelps will compete for the first time next weekend since the Beijing Olympics where he won an unprecedented eight gold medals. The North Baltimore Aquatic Club star is slated to swim in five events at the Charlotte UltraSwim in North Carolina from May 14-17. The meet will also be where he plans on unveiling his new freestyle stroke that he has been tinkering on this year.

"I had no idea," Phelps told The Associated Press when told that his suspension ended today.
