COLLEGE STATION, Texas, March 20. FLORIDA's Gemma Spofforth did not have much trouble dispatching the field in the women's 100-yard back as she defended her title in the event.

Spofforth uncorked a time of 50.55, which is the third-fastest time ever, to win the crown for the second year. The victory gave Florida its fourth in the event with Kristen Linehan also going back-to-back for the Gators in 1989 and 1990.

Two-time NCAA champion Rachel Goh of Auburn finished second in 51.61, while Arizona's Ana Agy continued the Wildcat fight to rebound from their morning disqualification with a third-place 51.65.

The team title tightened up to potentially give fans the closest finish ever in the meet's history as California moved back in front with 262 points. Georgia and Arizona were tied for second with 258.5 points. Stanford (183.5) and Auburn (173) began to solidify top five spots with fourth and fifth.
