COLLEGE STATION, Texas, March 19. ARIZONA's foursome of Ana Agy (51.13), Annie Chandler (57.95), Lara Jackson (51.80) and Justine Schluntz (47.43) completed a bounce-back evening for the Wildcats with an American, U.S. Open and NCAA record in the women's 400-yard medley relay of 3:28.31.

Heading into finals, some members of the Arizona team seemed a bit disappointed in the morning performance. The defending national champions, however, maximized their final opportunities, including the relay record that beat Arizona's 3:29.06 set at last year's championship.

California's Lauren Rogers, Alexandra Ellis, Hannah Wilson and Dana Vollmer placed second in the event with a 3:30.27, while USC's Kristen Lahey, Rebecca Soni, Katinka Hosszu and Rachael Waller completed a third-place effort with a 3:30.67.

The triumph gave the Wildcats their third win in the event in four years, and moved them into a tie with Georgia and Texas for the third-most wins in NCAA history. Stanford (9) and Florida (5) own the top two spots.

Arizona finished the day with a top team tally of 141.5 points, while Georgia held second with 133 points. California (126), Stanford (105) and Auburn (91.5) were the rest of the top five.

March 19, 2009 Great swim by Smit in the IM, though. By the way where is Arianna Kukors this year? Going fast times so can't be too injured, but why not swimming for UW this year?

March 20, 2009 A comment about the scores: Arizona is strongest in the 200 and 400 relays(SemiColon replaced here) they have won the first two and will probably win at least the 200 medley and maybe 400 free (watch out for Cal there), but I can't see them taking the 800 (Auburn, Georgia, Cal, Stanford, etc. should be stronger there). Jackson was also their strongest contender for an individual NCAA title.

Predictions for today:
200 Medley Relay - Arizona
400 IM - Smit/Hersey/Olghren
100 Fly - Breeden/Vollmer/Jackson
200 Free - Vollmer/Isokovic/Schmitt
100 Breast - Soni/Chandler/Tyler
100 Back - Spofforth
800 Free - Auburn/Stanford/Cal
